Custom built for children ages 2 to 12 at Hillbrook School in Los Gatos, CA, this playground treehouse fuses adventure and protection as children explore the treetops while enveloped in a cocoon of rope netting. The 7' high main deck is a roomy 12' x 12' attached to a commercial grade tube slide, 10' long swinging bridge and 6' x 6' two-story fort.

The Magical Bridge Playground had its Grand Opening on April 18, 2015. Located in Mitchell Park in Palo Alto, the Magical Bridge Playground is an innovative inclusive playground, designed and built for visitors of ALL abilities. During the past five years, Barbara worked closely with founder Olenka Villareal, Verde Landscape Designs, Barry Swenson Builders, the City of Palo Alto and a committee of local families to create a comprehensive park design that serves not just wheelchair users but children and adults with autism, visual impairments, sensory and cognitive issues. Barbara designed and built all of the custom redwood strucutres in the park: a two-story Magical Playhouse with Community stage, elevated Tree Deck, elevated ramps & walkways as well as a Swinging Bridge. All the structures are fully wheelchair accessible. TOPS Treehouse was custom designed and built for the 2 thru 5 year-olds attending The Orinda PreSchool. Surrounding a giant oak tree, this play structure provides a secure way for very young children to experience play activities up amongst the tree branches. The rung ladder and the ADA transfer platform system provide easy ways up to the 4' high deck. The hand-woven rope net ladder is the more challenging way up to the 5' high deck, which also has a scoop slide for a quick, fun way down. TOPS Treehouse complies with the ASTM F1487-11 Standards for Public Use Playground Equipment and the Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines.

The Roughhouse Treehouse resides in the middle of the Turnberry Town Square Shopping Center in Las Vegas! This very unique tree house was designed by Barbara to the ASTM F 1487-17 Standards for Playground Equipment for Public Use for the 5 to 12 age range and ADA Handicap Accessible guidelines. Built around a large tree brought all the way from Texas, this unique treehouse has a rustic "Tom Sawyer" style and plenty of fun play components.

Fort San Anselmo is perfect for the 2 to 5 year age range: 2 castle towers with crenellation trims, Cobra Spiral Slide, Deep Rung Metal Climber, Rope Net Ladder and Swinging Bridge. The Ship's Ladder (an ADA compliant transfer system) is the easy way up for kids and adults. Plus (2) ship's wheels attached to panels with hand-painted ship's nautical instruments, a telescope and waving flag! Fort San Anselmo complies with the ASTM F1487-11 Standards for Public Use Playground Equipment and Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines.

Barbara created Fort Bing for the active 2-year olds attending Bing Nursery School, a Laboratory School for Research and Teaching associated with the prestigious Stanford University. The 4'x4' Main Tower has a slated hip roof, custom railings with circle-square-triangle cut-outs, open slide and ADA Transfer system with 2 steps. Attached below the 3' high deck is a 4' long crawl tunnel.  Fort Bing, designed for the 2 to 5 age range, complies with the ASTM F1487-11 Standards for Public Use Playground Equipment and Americans with Disabilities Act guidelines.  

The City of San Juan Capistrano commissioned Barbara to custom-design these 2-Bay rustic swing sets (with 2 swing per bay) for the new Los Rios Historic Park. These Swing Sets meet all the public use codes! While they appear to be fabricated from solid wood, the core is steel with redwood cladding that has been sanded smooth and stained to match the Los Rios Play Structure. Price for a single Bay is$9,990 plus delivery & installation, with your choice of 2 belt swings or 2 tot swings and your choice of color.

Looking for a play structure for your school yard but don't have the space? Look "outside the box" with a custom design! Barbara was approached by the head of Contra Costa Jewish Day School with an idea: could she make usefull play space of the area that runs along the edge of the sports court, without demolishing or modifying the existing 8' high concrete planters and retaining walls. Barbara's resulting custom design for a fully contained play structure starts at one end of the sports court with the ADA-compliant transfer steps behind a Ball Wall, then winds through a series of tunnels & clubhouses atop the planters, and finally ends with a long tube slide exit at the other end of the sport court. Big impact utilizing very little of the sport court space!

Fort Outback playfort is designed for use by 2-5 year olds and meets ASTM F 1487-07 Standard for Playground Equipment for Public Use. This rustic, kids' playfort has double 2-story Towers with a connecting Swinging Bridge, plus lots of great play features.

 The Pirate's Ship was designed and built for the Ritz Carlton Hotel in West Palm Beach, FL and sits on ocean side to complement the view.  This elegant ship meets ASTM Standards for the 2 to 5 year old age range.

 The Summerhouse is a 1-story 5' x 5' playhouse made from natural redwood lumber and finished in pure, non-toxic, tung-oil stains with high quality artist pigment.  A totally green playhouse for The Turtle Bay Exploration Park, designed to meet ASTM F 1487-05 Standard for Playground Equipment for Public Use, for the 2 to 12 age range.

Barbara's public use Stucco Playhouses are part of the Turnberry Town Square Shopping Center in Las Vegas, NV. The Stucco Playhouses are designed to simulate the old world European look of the surrounding buildings and to meet ASTM F 1487-07 Standard for Playground Equipment for Public Use and ADA Handicap Accessible Guidelines. There are 2 sets of playhouses: Romeo & Juliet's Playhouses for the 5 to 12 age range and The Bakery/Cafe for the 2 to 5 age range.

Fort Frontier's two Towers are connected by a Swinging Bridge. There are plenty of Play Features here for a bevy of kids. This redwood play structure is designed for kids ages 5-12 and it meets the ASTM F 1487-07 Standards for Playground Equipment for Public Use.

Larkspur Castle invites you in with a Drawbridge-style entry or leads you up a Ship's Ladder to the second stories with a connecting Swinging Bridge. A redwood Play Structure designed for 5-12 year olds, Larkspur Castle meets ASTM F 1487-07 Standard for Playground Equipment for Public Use.

The Lighthouse makes an engaging public-use wooden Play Structure for a pre-school.  What little child doesn't love the idea of ships and a lighthouse. Carved waves surround The Lighthouse above porthole windows. The copper Octagon Roof glints in the sunlight like the lantern beacon of real lighthouses.  The Lighthouse is designed for 2-5 year olds and meets ASTM F 1487-07 Standard for Playground Equipment for Public Use.

The Shipwreck is an exciting public-use Play Structure made for 2-5 year olds. Besides having fun physical activities such as a Super Slide and a Rope Net Ladder, there's a hole in the side of the ship to let the kids imagine the ship was wrecked at sea and has washed ashore.  The Shipwreck is designed for 2-5 year olds and meets ASTM F 1487-07 Standard for Playground Equipment for Public Use.

Outdoor Theater (for age range 2 to 12) is the perfect way to bring kids together for interactive, imaginative play. This stunning theater is located at New Town At St. Charles, a traditional town designed & developed by Whittaker Homes.  New Town combines old with new, ultimately creating a town reminiscent of the past where children can ride their bikes to the general store, residents can walk to the local coffee shop and everyone can go to the park for a day of delightful theater.

The Outdoor Napa Theater is made from all redwood lumber that has been carved & stained and then finished with a clear coat of non-toxic, protective tung oil. Designed with kids in mind, this theater stage is large and sturdy enough to handle everything - from impromptu skits to full production plays, not to mention rock & roll concerts.  Designed to meet the ASTM Standards for Public Use Playground Equipment for the 2 to 12 age range and can be upgraded to meet ADA Handicap Accessible Guidelines.

Walt Disney commissioned Barbara to design a public-use outdoor play structure for Disney World's newest resort, Saratoga Springs. Fort Saratoga is designed for the 5-12 year old age group, meets ASTM F 1487-05 Standards for Playground Equipment for Public-Use, and is also handicap accessible.
