The Magical Bridge Playground had its Grand Opening on April 18, 2015. Located in Mitchell Park in Palo Alto, the Magical Bridge Playground is an innovative inclusive playground, designed and built for visitors of ALL abilities. During the past five years, Barbara worked closely with founder Olenka Villareal, Verde Landscape Designs, Barry Swenson Builders, the City of Palo Alto and a committee of local families to create a comprehensive park design that serves not just wheelchair users but children and adults with autism, visual impairments, sensory and cognitive issues. Barbara designed and built all of the custom redwood strucutres in the park: a two-story Magical Playhouse with Community stage, elevated Tree Deck, elevated ramps & walkways as well as a Swinging Bridge. All the structures are fully wheelchair accessible.
