We recommend the "Tom Sawyer" approach when applying our beautiful stains to a play structure, a piece of furniture or any beautiful wooden object: get everyone to help! Dress in old clothes and have fun. Below are the supplies we use in our shop:
Our BBAB Wood Stain Colors Packet contains all 59 stain colors on redwood lumber that has been ground smooth and cut into 1.5” x 4” chips. When choosing your colors, be sure to view the chips outside in the natural sunlight. Due to variation in the grain of the redwood, actual colors may vary slightly from the sample chips. The cost of a stain packet can be applied towards a future purchase of $500 or more. Time to create order (not including shipping time):2 days

Use our wax-free, non-toxic when dry, BBAB Clear Tung-Oil Solution as an exterior treatment for a Barbara Butler redwood play structure (or other non-painted wood surfaces). An annual application of BBAB Clear Tung-Oil Solution will protect the wood from drying out & aging prematurely, and also protect the color from fading. Note: Because our BBAB Clear Tung-Oil Solution is wax-free, it allows you to re-stain at any point in the future without having to strip this protective solution off the structure. To apply the color stains, we recommend using Jen-Poly foam brushes. Comes as set of 3 brushes: 1” wide, 2” wide and 3” wide. Tip: keep used brushes sealed in a Ziploc plastic lunch bag to extend the life of the brush. Time to create order (not including shipping time):2 days
For edges, small spaces & detail trims, we recommend using these sturdy white nylon detail brushes. Clean with Brush Cleaner (sold separately). Tip: If using again the next day, then leave the brush-end soaking overnight in a small jar of Brush Cleaner. Time to create order (not including shipping time):2 days
Large, porous, soft sponges are best for applying the Clear tung-Oil and the Wood Conditioner. Pour some solution onto the sponge and wipe over the wood applying a generous amount. Avoid wiping over metal hinges and avoid drips. After completing a large area, go back and wipe off excess. It’s easy! Time to create order (not including shipping time):2 days
To keep your hands free from stain color, we recommend using multi-purpose “latex-quality Nitrile gloves. Price is for a set of 10 gloves. Time to create order (not including shipping time):2 days
